Up to this time, I have only programmed in winforms. Now I am looking for that next step forward. For LOB apps, which is better Wpf or Silverlight? Is Wpf dead now that Silverlight 4 is out? Is anyone out there doing Wpf LOB apps?

WPF is far from dead, its just that Silverlight playing catchup.

keep in mind that they target two deferent audience and solves deferent problems.

WPF/Silverlight are totally deferent from winforms, so approach with open mind and good books...

good luck.

WPF is very much alive and there are a number of folks doing WPF LOB apps.  If you're coming from WinForms, WPF will be a more familiar environment because you don't have to worry about asynchronous queries or navigation.  If your users are demanding a no-touch browser deployment, obviously Silverlight is the answer there.
