Detached rows remain in queue after save

We seem to be having an issue when deleting newly added and unsaved rows.
 
When we add an entity to the cache but before the save is called we delete the entity it seems to be remaining in the cache.  When we refresh the screen the entity was added from we are getting a "row not in datatable" error.
 
Is there something I am doing wrong?  The developers guide states that these rows will be removed from the cache.  But in our case they clearly are not.
