But is this at the end a bug?
I'm getting this on a SL application where I use the Ideablade.Core just for compressing data from an old wcf app to sl (that uses POCO)

The bug is still open.

If you're seeing the problem when directly using the GZip functions in IdeaBlade.Core you can instead try using one of the compression libraries, like SharpZipLib or DotNetLib.

but those compression libraries don't exposes BindingElement for WCF/Silverlight binding items...
