Will there be an update of the Devforce Business Application Template to include Cocktail, which might comprise changes to the code to accomodate the bootstrapper, authentication, etc.?

Very unlikely. The trend in general is moving away from VS templates and towards NuGet for everything. The next version of Cocktail and DevForce will be exclusively distributed through NuGet. There will still be some DevForce templates initially at least. but we are considering "Starter" NuGet packages that take the place of today's VS templates, so you may see a Cocktail Business Application package that will largely do what you are asking.
