Good job Ideablade!</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>I think I've run into an issue with the beta object mapper. I created a VM and installed VS2008, SQL Server, and Devforce beta for VS 2008. I sucessfully created a test application which connects to the SQL Server running in the VM (the Devforce Tutorial DB). I can save, compile and run.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>The problem arrises when I try to tell the mapper to connect to a database in another VM. The test connection gives the OK dialog but the object mapper failes to connect. I have tried both Window NT authenticatioon and SQL Server authentication and both fail in the object mapper.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>Also, I have verified that SQL Server Mgt. Studio will connect to the other database and seems to work well.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV>]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.ideablade.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=23" rel="nofollow">davidklitzke</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 122<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 03-Oct-2007 at 4:09pm<br /><br />Our current IdeaBlade product will not run on Visual Studio 2008 (for testing purposes).&nbsp; In fact, installing Visual Studio 2008 may very well break an installed DevForce product.&nbsp; We have one prospect who had a version of DevForce running on his system, then installed Visual Studio 2008,&nbsp;&nbsp;He then&nbsp;uninstalled DevForce prior to trying to uninstall the latest version of DevForce.&nbsp; His reinstall just hung.&nbsp; Fortunately, after much work (i.e., uninstalling all versions of Visual Studio, reinstalling Visual Studio 2005, and moving some files around was he able to recover DevForce.<DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>My advice is not to use Visual Studio 2008 on a production machine because it can easily corrupt your file system.&nbsp; If possible, use Virtual PC.</DIV>]]>
