    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.ideablade.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=24" rel="nofollow">Linguinut</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 597<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 20-Dec-2007 at 3:53pm<br /><br /><DIV>I have done all of the typical cleanup for VS IDE performance.&nbsp; </DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>Regarding the comments in the other post:&nbsp; A new machine is not an option.&nbsp; Small views are the order of the day in the CAB world.&nbsp; The UI designer is a main feature of an IDE, why would I scrap its use?&nbsp; And, I am a C# guy, already.</DIV><P>Have you tried to make a module specific solution in the DF/CAB environment?&nbsp; I think there will be a lot of hurdles to cross on that one.&nbsp; I do my best to&nbsp;close all code/designer windows when I am done for the day.&nbsp; I have plenty of disk space and am fully defraged.</P><DIV>Btw, other, non-CAB solutions, open in seconds.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>Thanks for the tips,<BR>Bill</DIV>]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.ideablade.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=97" rel="nofollow">Bill Jensen</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 597<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 14-Dec-2007 at 3:45pm<br /><br /><P>Our Visual Studios are not blindingly fast, but don't take 10-15 minutes.&nbsp; I trust you've&nbsp;Googled for ideas.</P><DIV>Here are a few suggestions:</DIV><DIV></DIV><UL><LI dir=ltr>Visual Studio is a disk pig.&nbsp; Be sure you've got plenty and check if you need to defrag.</LI><LI>I find that loading the toolbox for the forms designer is a significant time-burner.&nbsp; If there are any designers open in the saved .suo file, this occurs at startup.&nbsp; Third-party control suites can add significantly to this.</LI><LI dir=ltr>If it's possible, you might be able to make module-specific solutions, containing the Infrastructure, Model, AppHelper and Shell projects and only the module(s) you're working on at the moment.</LI></UL><P dir=ltr>That's about all I can think of right now.</P><DIV>Good luck.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>Bill J.</DIV>]]>
