To any with experience,
What advantages does this framework have over either CSLA or netTiers?  Would appreciate input from those with actual development experience in one of these frameworks.  Particular examples would also be appreciated.

Also, has anyone used this framework for a large, complex enterprise application?  Again, particular examples of features liked/disliked would be appreciated.

Interested in DevForce

Orlan,

I have built websites using both netTiers and using DevForce.

www.routingfacts.com was built using netTiers and
www.reportingfacts.com was built using DevForce.

Both websites are hosted at DiscountASP.net on shared servers so performance is not as good as it could be since the SQL2005 databases are located on SQL servers with literally hundreds of other databases.

That said, however, I found using DevForce an easier and more stable environment for working with the data.

The ability to do span queries was a big factor in creating www.reportingfacts.com, and the ability to create reports using Microsoft Reporting technology based on DevForce objects was critical.

Both of the websites mentioned are production sites for a customer of mine - if you would like to go "behind the scenes" for either of them, contact me directly and we can set up a Webex meeting.

I am working with a firm in Wisconsin that is going to be moving our apps from clarion for windows to .net this next year and we are interested in your expereience with dev force and web apps..

we are in the final stages of evaluating which framework to buy in to. I have had great success with the windows apps but would be great to see what you have done with ideablade and web apps.

Do you use dev express controls?

Also,, when I try to go to http://www.reportingfacts.com/ I get nothing.... is the site down?

If we could make arrangements to preview some of your code it would be wonderful

Thanks in advance

Dennis,

I have been using Infragistics controls for windows apps and straight .net controls for web stuff.

ReportingFACTS.com has been taken down per my customer’s request.

Send me your email address and I'll send you a zip file containing the source for ReportingFACTS.com which is 1.7MB, too big to post on the forum which has a 250KB size limit.

Also please be aware that due to health reasons I am in the process of shutting down my company and getting a regular job where I’ll have insurance. I’ll still be available for Q&A and possibly some work in evenings and weekends, but not during normal business hours.

If you have further questions, don’t hesitate to ask – I’ll answer them as soon as I can.

Best of luck to you and you cannot go wrong with DevForce!
