I am so sorry we could not help you.  I am especially concerned that others could also run into this problem, and I would like to be able to help them.

On previous versions of DevExpress (i.e., DevExpress 6.2.x and DevExpress 6.3.x) a handful of customers have run into a similar mysterious installation problem.  All of these customers solved their problems by migrating to a later version of DevExpress.

We anticipate supporting DevEXpress 7.3 in mid-December.  Would you be interested in trying that?

In case it is of any use, this does actually work. I installed DevExpress 7.2.4 and then installed DevForce 3.5.1 which prompted me to setup binding redirects, and in doing so DevForce is working quite happily with DevExpress.

My guess is that the only version of DevExpress 7.2.x that will work for you now is DevExpress 7.2.1 (because Assembly Binding Redirection is broken for DevExpress 7.2.x).

Are you using a 64-bit OS?  The reason that I ask this is that I did have one customer who needed a special workaround because of the fact that there are different machine.config files for 32-bit and 64-bit environments.

It's possible that you have a corrupted machine.config, but I doubt this unless you have been manually editing this file.

I'd like to get some diagnostic information from you.  Please look at the DevForce Tab in the Visual Studio ToolBox (Please do this in a Windows Application environment).  Tell me whether you see an icon for the XtraGridBindingManager for DevExpress 7.2.  If you don't see the icon, then try to add the XtraGridBindingManager for DevEx 7.2 (start by right clicking in the ToolBox and then select "Choose Items").  However instead of selecting the control from the list, select the control by using "Browse" and browse to the DLL in C:\Program Files\IdeaBlade DevForce.  You'll likely get an error message.  If you do, tell me what the error message says.

Hi david

I had actually installed DevExpress 7.2.4
I ran the AssemblyBindingRedirector, but this did not make a difference.

I will try and download a previous version of DevExpress.
Cheers

If you had installed DevExpress 7.2.1, you would have seen DevExpress 7.2 in the ToolBox Installer.  My guess is that you actually installed a later version (for example, DevExpress 7.2.3).

To make DevExpress 7.2 visible, you must run the AssemblyBindingRedirector.  (Press Start->All Programs->IdeaBlade DevForce->Tools->Assembly Binding Redirector.

Currently iam using DevForce 3.5.3

I want to use the XtraGridBindingManager but cant seem to find the tool.

I had a look in the ideablade toolbox installer but it only lists up to DevExpress 7.1

DevExpress 2007 Version 7.2.1 will be supported in our next release (August 8, DevForce 3.5.3).

Just got a hold of the new version of DevExpress 7.2.1 which has a lot of fixes that we have been waiting for. Problem is that the Ideablade.UI.Winforms.DevExpressControls.v7_1_0 doesnt map to this version because of the version number change. Is there a work around for this so we can redirect (I remember there was a way we could do this in the past but I cant find the Documentation on it) to the new version of devExpress, or do we need a new compile of ideablade?
