Is it possible to run IdeaBlade on Visual Studio 2008 for testing purposes? Did someone try it yet?

Our development team has been hard at work developing support for Orcas, the next version of Visual Studio, but the current version of DevForce will not install or interoperate with this version of Visual Studio.
 
We will be releasing a version of DevForce that supports Orcas the day that this new version of Visual Studio is released by Microsoft.

Our current IdeaBlade product will not run on Visual Studio 2008 (for testing purposes).  In fact, installing Visual Studio 2008 may very well break an installed DevForce product.  We have one prospect who had a version of DevForce running on his system, then installed Visual Studio 2008,  He then uninstalled DevForce prior to trying to uninstall the latest version of DevForce.  His reinstall just hung.  Fortunately, after much work (i.e., uninstalling all versions of Visual Studio, reinstalling Visual Studio 2005, and moving some files around was he able to recover DevForce.
 
My advice is not to use Visual Studio 2008 on a production machine because it can easily corrupt your file system.  If possible, use Virtual PC.

Yes.  We plan to offer a version of DevForce 3.5.x that will work with the version of Visual Studio 2008 that is scheduled to release by the end of November 2007.  We plan to make this available within one or two weeks after Microsoft makes their release,

As we have stated before, we will be releasing a version of DevForce 4.0 that supports the VS 2008 Entity Framework at the end of February 2008.

We released the Beta version last Monday.  You should be able to find it on either the DevForce Express download page or the Customer portal page.
 
Full support for VS2008 will be available on December 13 with the DevForce 3.5.6.1 release.

I think is great how quickly Ideablade has responded with a beta release so quickly on the heals of the VS2008 RTM. Good job Ideablade!
 
I think I've run into an issue with the beta object mapper. I created a VM and installed VS2008, SQL Server, and Devforce beta for VS 2008. I sucessfully created a test application which connects to the SQL Server running in the VM (the Devforce Tutorial DB). I can save, compile and run.
 
The problem arrises when I try to tell the mapper to connect to a database in another VM. The test connection gives the OK dialog but the object mapper failes to connect. I have tried both Window NT authenticatioon and SQL Server authentication and both fail in the object mapper.
 
Also, I have verified that SQL Server Mgt. Studio will connect to the other database and seems to work well.

you can always compare the connection strings in sql mgmt studio & the object mapper (if you haven't already)
