I’m running into the following error message after installing DevForce Universal Express. It occurs when creating a new project in VS2008, when you click the OK button after choosing a DevForce Silverlight Application:

I’ve done a bit of Google searching on templates, but cannot resolve the issue.

I backed the Universal out and went back to the previous 5.2.2 Silverlight download, which  re-installed fine and no such message.

Has anyone else encountered this problem with the latest Universal Express download?

I found the quote below in the Forum by searching on "Project template", followed the instructions, and now I can create new projects with DevForce Universal Express  without seeing the error message I posted.

To install the templates manually.

On my Vista 32bit OS I found the templates installed in C:\My_Directory and C:\My_DirectoryVisualBasic respectively.
If you dont find them there search for them elsewhere....

The language specific zip files that you should look for are listed below and are contained in a DevForce Directory:
BOSWebApplicationCS.zip      or  BOSWebApplicationVB.zip
BOSWebSiteCS.zip                 or  BOSWebSiteVB.zip
DevForceSLAppCS.zip             or  DevForceSLAppVB.zip
DevForceSLAppServerCS.zip   or  DevForceSLAppServerVB.zip

Once you find them,

Copy the DevForce Folders (with the zip files) from the locations above to:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplates\CSharp\DevForce\...
and
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplates\VisualBasic\DevForce\...

You must run "devenv.exe /installvstemplates" to update VS template cache

The templates should appear in VS2008 as expected.

Hope this helps!

Howdy,

I just installed the Express version of DevForceSilverlight.5.2.4.2(Express), and I get no VS2008 templates installed anywhere.  I've done a search of the entire hard drive fo the filesmentioned above (DevForceSLAppVB.zip, etc.),and they are not on the systm at all.

When I open VS2008, I get the DevForce Object Mapper with no problems, however if I tryu and create a project through this interface, I geta 'Can't find template DevForceSLAppVB.zip' error message.

Help!!

Cheers.

Trying I'm trying to test drive the product. I get no VS templates when I do the "free" 10 entity install.
Also get the above error when installing on Windows 7 as a admin

OK I have templates now. The issue was I read the install doc and when asked for the Product Key I did not put in the Key that was e-mailed to me. I uninstalled and then reinstalled using the key that was sent and it all worked fine.  I got a call from David Klitzke and he was s big help. Thanks!

OK that’s the service I like.

Thanks

Dave
